LUNAR NEW YEAR COMPANY DINNER AND DANCE
A Fresh Start
Hin Lee Contractor Trading Pte Ltd (HLCT) has a long tradition of having our dinner and dance on the 5th or 6th day of the lunar new year or commonly known as “Heng Gang”.
However, due to Covid-19 Pandemic that shuts down almost everything, we are forced to cancel the annual celebration in the year 2021 and 2022. After 2 years of hiatus, HLCT management, office staffs, site managers, engineers, safety coordinators, and supervisors gathered at Yan Palace, Warren Golf & Country Club to celebrate and strengthen our bonds.
HLCT management also took this opportunity to thank our clients, sub-contractors, and suppliers for their unwavering support throughout the years (especially during these difficult times) by inviting them to join us in this celebration.
2023 is the Year of the rabbit (Chinese Zodiac Sign) which begins on 22nd January. In the Chinese Culture, the Rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace and prosperity. And we hope that 2023 will be a fresh start after what seems to be the darkest 2.5 years when Covid-19 put a pause in our industry but also changes the norms.
HLCT management acknowledge the importance of supporting our staffs mentally through these difficult times especially many of them are from a foreign land, leaving their family back home just to earn a better living.
As far as Lunar New Year dinner goes, the iconic yu sheng toss or commonly known as “lo-hei” still remains at the helm of all things festive. “Lo-hei”, in Cantonese literally translates to “tossing up good fortune”, and it refers to the ritual adopted in Singapore and most part of Malaysia that involves a group of people gathered around a plate, tossing its contents while saying auspicious phrases before eating it; popularly believed the higher you toss, the more prosper you will become. And it is a blessing that we are unable to dine together once again and share the joy and blessing through the ritual of “lo-hei”.
HLCT management would like to wish all our clients, sub-contractors, suppliers, staffs, and everyone a blessed Lunar New Year. May 2023 be a fresh start for all of us and the industry as we pursue for excellences.
